Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz to Face Disciplinary Action for Bottle Throwing | MMAWeekly.com

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz may be done with each other for a while, but both are going to face action from Nevada over their bottle and can throwing melee at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference.

The Nevada Attorney General’s Office has filed individual complaints against McGregor and Diaz for their respective roles in the incident that occurred on Aug. 17 in Las Vegas, according to a report by ESPN.com.

Diaz arrived about 10 minutes late to the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference, while McGregor was roughly 30 minutes tardy. Just a few minutes after McGregor joined the press conference, Diaz abruptly got up and began walking out through the crowd. It then quickly it devolved into a bottle and can throwing melee involving both fighters and several people from Diaz’s camp, including his brother, Nick.

It’s no surprise that Nevada would take action. They also did so in 2014, when Jones and Cormier got into a media day brawl that ended with a UFC official getting knocked off of the stage, the background collapsing, and the fight spilling over into a crowd of people. Both were issued fines and required to perform community service.

UFC president Dana White, immediately following the McGregor and Diaz bottle throwing incident, declared that they would get called before the Nevada Athletic Commission.

“They’re both getting punished,” said White. “What everybody’s gotta understand is we’re overseen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I guarantee both of these guys will get massive fines. And there’s probably gonna be a hearing, too, after the fight. There could be suspensions, community service; it’s gonna be ugly.”

Nevada has yet to reveal if and when the McGregor and Diaz matter will go before the Athletic Commission.
