He doesn’t know where and he doesn’t know when, but Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson knows that he deserves an immediate rematch with Tyron Woodley.
Thompson and Woodley met in the UFC 205 co-main event on Nov. 12 in New York. After five hard-fought rounds, the bout ended in a majority draw, leaving the UFC welterweight championship around Woodley’s waist.
Conor McGregor fought in the UFC 205 main event, defeating Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight championship, giving him two title belts. There has since been chatter about McGregor possibly wanting to move up to welterweight to challenge Woodley for a third UFC belt.

That would mean leap-frogging Thompson, however, and the Wonderboy doesn’t believe that it should be an option.
“I do believe I deserve that title shot. It was a draw. It was like we never fought at all,” Thompson said during an interview with Submission Radio. “We got to go out there and settle it. Who is the real champion? Who is it? I think the fans enjoyed the last fight enough to tune in for that.”
Thompson knows that Demian Maia is another fighter that has been patiently waiting for a shot at the belt and that McGregor is big money, but isn’t about to give up on a rematch that he feels is deserved. Not to mention, it sounds as if McGregor may be taking some time off.
Besides, he’s willing to give either of them a shot at the belt if he’s able to get the better of Woodley in the rematch.
