Ronda Rousey Not Going Away, Plans to Fight Holly Holm Later This Year

For those that question Ronda Rousey‘s resiliency, no, she’s not going away anytime soon. In fact, she intends to return to the Octagon later this year.

In a brief interview with TMZ Sports, Rousey said that “of course” she intends to come back and fight Holly Holm after losing to her at UFC 193 in November. Holm landed a head-kick knockout in the second round to become only the second woman to ever hold the UFC bantamweight belt.

Ronda Rousey UFC 193 scrum 3UFC president Dana White had initially proclaimed an immediate rematch would be on tap, likely at UFC 200 in July, but that was before Rousey’s outside interests forced her to push the fight back.

Rousey has been tapped as the lead in a remake of the Patrick Swayze classic “Road House.” The filming of which has been delayed, so White granted Rousey’s request to not fight in July.

When White revealed that Rousey wouldn’t be fighting at UFC 200 and that Holm would be facing Miesha Tate in March for her first title defense, speculation ran rampant that Rousey was done, that she might never return to the UFC.

Not true, according to Rousey.

“It’s later sometime in the year. They haven’t told me an exact date or location or anything else,” she told TMZ. “It’s a decision we’re all gonna make together, but I’m kind of waiting for them to hear what options they’re gonna give me.”

So there’s no clear timeline, but expect to see Rousey back in the Octagon in 2016.
