The UFC’s return to London next week has a late change to the lineup.
With Lukasz Sajewski (13-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) out of his lightweight fight against Teemu Packalen (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 84, undefeated French newcomer Thibault Gouti (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has answered the call for his UFC debut. UFC officials announced the change today.
UFC Fight Night 84 takes place Feb. 27 at The O2 in London. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass with a main card starting in the afternoon in the States due to the time difference. In the headliner, former middleweight champion Anderson Silva meets perennial contender and U.K. fighter Michael Bisping.
The 28-year-old Gouti has nine stoppage wins in his 11 career victories, including six by submission. His two most recent wins, though, were by knockout. At Cage 33 in Finland this past November, he knocked out UFC veteran Anton Kuivanen in the third round.
Packalen, from Finland, made his promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 72 this past July in Scotland, but dropped a unanimous decision to Mickael Lebout. That was the first loss of his pro career after starting 7-0 with seven stoppage wins.
Sajewski, from Poland, also started his career unbeaten before making his way to the UFC. After a perfect 13-0 start, he debuted with the promotion at UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin this past June and dropped a decision to Nick Hein. He was looking to get back in the win column for the first time since May 2014, but that gets put on hold with his injury.
With the change, the UFC Fight Night 84 lineup includes:
MAIN CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 4 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 12:45 p.m. ET)
