Ultimate Fighter Fridays Kicks Off Tonight; Are You Ready? (TUF 16 Video Preview)

The sixteenth season of the UFC’s venerable reality series returns this week with Ultimate Fighter Fridays.

The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson kicks off on Friday night at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX with a two-hour premiere, and if the words of the coaches and UFC president are any indicator, it should be an interesting season.

“The one thing I love about The Ultimate Fighter is, every season is different,” said UFC president Dana White. “Same scenario, same goal – everyone wants to win the contract, but every season has its own things happen to make it exciting and this one is no exception.”

This season’s coaches, heavyweights Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson, couldn’t provide a more stark contrast in personalities.

“It’s no secret that Roy and I hate each other,” said Carwin, former UFC interim heavyweight champion and coach of Team Carwin. “This is all the more reason why I want to destroy him and his team in this season of The Ultimate Fighter. There are a lot of twists and turns and things happen that I would have never assumed.”

While Carwin tends to be fairly serious, or at least a little more straight forward, Nelson is a lot more likely to take the long and winding road to crazy town, no matter where he’s intending to go.

“On this season of The Ultimate Fighter, plan to see TV magic at its best,” said Roy Nelson, a previous TUF winner and coach of Team Nelson. “You have to watch because we have Santa, The Big Boss and his Henchman. Christmas, with Scrooge and a hired goon to make what is expected to be the best TUF season in FX history.”
