BELFAST, Northern Ireland – Charlie Ward had the fans on his side, but Abdul Razak Alhassan quickly silenced them.
In a clash of UFC newcomers, Alhassan (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) engaged in a wild slugfest, and his right hands proved too much for Ward (2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
The featherweight bout opened the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 99 event at SSE Arena Belfast in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The entire event streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
The quick slugfest lasted just 53 seconds before Alhassan, who scored multiple knockdowns but had to shake off the effects of a couple big shots, was declared the knockout winner.
Alhassan is now 7-0 with seven knockout victories, and none has lasted more than 86 seconds. Ward, meanwhile, snaps a two-fight winning streak.
