A women’s bantamweight fight between Sarah Kaufman and Shayna Baszler has been booked for the TUF Nations Finale, UFC officials announced on Saturday.
The 135-pound fight is a rematch of their Strikeforce fight from 2009, a bout that ended with Kaufman earning a unanimous decision. The second go-around between the two adds to the growing fight card scheduled to take place April 16 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Kaufman (16-2, 1 NC) comes into fight with her last outing being ruled a no-contest due to her opponent, Jessica Eye, testing positive for a prohibited substance. A former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion, Kaufman holds notable wins over fellow UFC fighters Liz Carmouche and Alexis Davis.
Baszler (15-8) makes her UFC debut with the TUF Nations Finale having most recently competed on the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter. With over a decade of professional experience, Baszler has faced a number of women currently in the UFC, and was the first pick of coach Ronda Rousey on the reality series.
The TUF Nations Finale is headlined by a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy, and will include the finals between fighters on the current season of TUF Nations.
