Johny Hendricks just can’t catch a break. Two days after losing a heartbreaking UFC welterweight title fight to Georges St-Pierre, EA Sports officials announced “Rush” also downed “Bigg Rigg” in the second round of the ongoing “EA Sports UFC” cover vote.

St-Pierre moves into the final four candidates selected by fan vote to join UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones on the cover of the upcoming UFC video game, which is currently slated for a spring 2014 release.

St-Pierre moves on to the third round to face UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis, who was voted past UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo. On the other side of the bracket, history repeated itself with Chael Sonnen downing Michael Bisping, just as he did when the pair clashed in the octagon in January 2012. “The Bad Guy” now moves on to face Alexander Gustafsson, who was voted past the lone female fighter to make it to the final eight, Miesha Tate.

The third round round of voting commenced the moment the second round came to a conclusion. The semifinal matchups include:

  • Georges St-Pierre vs. Anthony Pettis
  • Alexander Gustafsson vs. Chael Sonnen

Fans can cast their third round votes for at http://www.ufc.com/covervote. The next round of voting ends Nov. 24, at which point just two candidates will remain.
