Urijah Faber has been on the shelf a bit of late, rehabbing some injuries. But “The California Kid” still is thinking down the road.
In particular, he knows a third fight against nemesis Dominick Cruz may be in his future now that Cruz finally is returning from injury. The two were scheduled for a trilogy fight in the summer of 2012 before Cruz blew out his knee.
“Of course I still want to fight Dominick,” Faber told MMAjunkie this past week in Japan. “I hope that he comes back and performs well. … I hope it’s a great fight and we’re going to see Dominick leaving off right where (he was when he) got injured. You never know in this sport, but I’m sure that’s a fight that will happen.”
Cruz (19-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) finally returns on Saturday against Takeya Mizugaki (20-7-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) at UFC 178 after a layoff of nearly three years due to multiple injuries.
Check out the video above for more from Faber about his own current injury, as well as how things are different for Team Alpha Male with a champion on the roster in T.J. Dillashaw.
