UFC Fight Night 50 Results: Matt Mitrione Blasts Derrick Lewis in the First Round

Matt Mitrone defeated Derrick Lewis in the first round of their main-card fight at UFC Fight Night Foxwoods in Ledyard, Conn. on Friday.

Mitrione blasted Lewis with strikes and collected the knockout win at the 0:41 mark of the opening round.

The two heavyweights danced around for the first 15 seconds of the bout before both leapt forward thorwing punches. Mitrone connected with a right hand and followed that up with a shove that sent Lewis to the ground.

Once there, Mitrione followed to the floor and unleashed a series of strikes to the head. Lewis got back to his feet for a moment, but Mitrione’s offense was far too much as he punched his opponent back down to the ground a moment before the stoppage.

With the win, Mitrone improves to 8-3 and is on a two-fight win streak, while Lewis collects his first UFC loss.
