Ronda Rousey Comments on Future After Holly Holm Defeat

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey may have suffered the first defeat of her career on Saturday night, but that doesn’t appear to be the end of the story.

Holly Holm not only defeated Rousey, she dominated the formerly undefeated champion, knocking her out in the second round. Despite suffering such a crushing defeat, Rousey on Sunday said that she’s not done yet, and that there shouldn’t be any concern for her health. She’s doing fine.

Rousey was taken to the hospital following the loss, according to UFC president Dana White.

Ronda Rousey UFC 193 scrum 1“Yeah, she went to the hospital,” White said on the FOX Sports UFC 193 post-show. “Her lip is split, and they’re going to have to sew her lip and put some stitches in it.”

The UFC boss explained that even though Rousey suffered the knockout, and that he was initially concerned she may have suffered a more severe injury, there were no serious issues that prompted the her trip to the hospital.

Rousey seemed to confirm as much in a Sunday post on Instagram, where said, “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine.”

She also assuaged any concerns that a lone defeat might drive her away from fighting, saying, “I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”
