A light heavyweight match-up between Ryan Jimmo and Ovince St. Preux has been added to the UFC 174 fight card in Vancouver. The Province first reported the addition on Thursday.
Jimmo (19-3) made his UFC debut in July 2012 while riding a 16-fight winning streak. Rarely do debuts go so well. The Canadian knocked out Anthony Perosh in seven seconds. The quick finish earned him Knockout of the Night.
He lost to James Te Huna in his next outing by unanimous decision. The 32-year-old has gone 3-2 in his five fights with the organization. He’s alternated between wins and losses since arriving in the organization and hopes to put together back-to-back wins when he faces St. Preux.
St. Preux (15-5) made his way to the UFC through the Strikeforce promotion. He’s fought three times inside the famed octagon, willing all three, which will likely make St. Preux the odds on favorite over Jimmo, despite Jimmo fighting on home soil.
He debuted at UFC 159 in April 2013 defeating Gian Villante by decision. The 31-year-old knocked out Cody Donovan in his next fight and submitted Nikita Krylov in his last outing at UFC 171 on March 15. St. Preux is 12-1 in his last thirteen fights.
UFC 174 takes place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada on June 14. Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson puts his title on the line for the fourth time against Ali Bagautinov in the main event.
