Cub Swanson says he's waiting for the winner of Jose Aldo-Chad Mendes. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
With both Aldo and Mendes tied up, it makes sense for the fourth- and fifth-ranked featherweights in the Sherdog.com rankings to duke it out and stake their claim to a title shot. The thought process was echoed by Edgar’s manager and World Series of Fighting matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz, who took to social media to make his hopes known.

Swanson -- who has won his last six, including a five-round decision against Jeremy Stephens on June 28 -- doesn’t agree with such plans, especially after being promised the next shot at the Aldo-Mendes winner by UFC President Dana White.
Swanson also took to Twitter in order to express his feelings on Edgar’s management team’s exploits.
Props to Frankie's camp for announcing fights that aren't even
real. Shady management at its finest!

With all the talk surrounding the potential matchup, plus the brewing hostility between the two camps, a fight seems to be in the cards. Left out of the equation is Ricardo Lamas, who was defeated by Aldo at UFC 169, but owns a win over Swanson and has yet to fight Edgar.
