As expected, featherweight prospect Conor McGregor (13-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will next fight at August’s UFC on FOX Sports debut. Standing across the cage will be English fighter Andy Ogle (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC).
UFC on FOX Sports 1 1, takes place Aug. 17 at TD Garden in Boston and will mark the promotion’s debut on the new cable network, which launches the same day.
McGregor, a former dual-division champ for the U.K.-based Cage Warriors promotion, entered the UFC with lofty expectations. As good on the mic as he is in the cage, UFC President Dana White and other officials are clearly enamored with the 24-year-old, who now owns a nine-fight win streak with nine stoppages, including seven in the first round.
Following McGregor’s 67-second dismantling of Marcus Brimage at April’s UFC on FUEL TV 9 event, White said the Irish fighter would next fight in the city with strong Irish roots.
Meanwhile, Ogle looks to build on the strength of an impressive decision win over Josh Grispi at this past February’s UFC on FUEL TV 7 event. A former cast member of “The Ultimate Fighter 15,” Ogle lost his official UFC debut via decision to Akira Corassani but is still 8-1 in his past nine official outings.
