"I’m not his father, okay, he can do whatever the hell he wants to do. I’m his friend, and I care about him a lot, and I’d really like to never see him fight again."
So said Dana White on the TUF 9 Finale edition of "Inside the Octagon", perhaps loosening on his stance that Chuck Liddell will never fight again. Could it be that one more go-round for the Iceman is in the works? According to an Inside Fights report on potential main events for UFC 103 (September 19th, Dallas), yeah, maybe:
I see what’s in it for Franklin: He eases back into the light-heavyweight division against an opponent that he shouldn’t have much trouble with — and hey, there still might be some casual UFC fans out there who think that beating Chuck is an accomplishment that puts you in line for a title shot. But if you’re Chuck Liddell, this is not the fight you take if you want to go out on a win. I don’t know what fight you would take, to be honest; are there any 205'ers on the UFC’s roster that would be underdogs against Chuck Liddell at this point? As pointless as it sounded a couple months ago, maybe Liddell vs. Couture IV would be the most fitting sendoff. No matter what the outcome, it would leave fans with memories of Chuck’s past glories, not another depressing image of how far he’s fallen.
