As a former fighter and former WEC champion, FOX analyst Brian Stann is in a unique position to comment on the recent troubles of now-former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Stann trained alongside Jones at Team Jackson-Winkeljohn in Albuquerque, N.M. from the first day that Jones set foot in the gym.
That was back before Jones had earned the light heavyweight strap. Back before Jones rose to the highest pinnacle of the sport. Back before Jones started to spiral out of control.

Having been there from day one, seeing Jones getting into progressively worse and worse trouble, don’t count Stann among those that were surprised by Jones’ recent involvement in a hit-and-run incident that saw him charged with a felony, stripped of his title, indefinitely suspended from fighting, and cut loose from a valuable endorsement deal with Reebok.
“I’d love to say I was shocked, but I was not. I would say a 4 or a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, and that had more to do with the details surrounding it.”
