After latest win, UFC's Conor McGregor calls Ricardo Lamas a 'big fat mess'

BOSTON – Don’t think for a minute that Conor McGregor was too distracted by a fight with Dennis Siver to take in Ricardo Lamas’ recent video parody.

McGregor caught the clip, which openly pokes fun at his image. After dispatching Siver via second-round TKO in Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 59 headliner, he had some choice words for the recent UFC title challenger.

“You have rookies – p-ssies – making these little videos,” McGregor said after the event, which took place at Boston’s TD Garden. “Ricardo Lamas’ video – holy Jesus. Think of the amount of effort he went to make that stupid video, and then Jose (Aldo) making these posters.

“They all think it’s fun and games. I’m not playing here, and now, it’s time. We have a location. Now Jose is next in line. He will be the next one to learn it’s not all talk, and it’s no joke.”

With the win over Siver, McGregor cinched a shot at Aldo’s title. The two are expected to meet in May at UFC 187 in Las Vegas.

Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) appeared before UFC Fight Night 59 with a sign poking fun at McGregor. But Lamas put in considerably more effort to mock the Irish fighter. This past week, he released a seven-minute video in which he plays “The Delirious” Conrad McGillicutty, a dimwitted MMA fighter on the hunt for a title shot.

It’s an obvious knock on McGregor, whom Lamas has repeatedly mocked online as the Irish fighter has risen in prominence.

McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) has listened to Lamas (15-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC), and he hasn’t been impressed. But the video, he said, took things to a new low.

“I swear, I can’t even get over that video,” McGregor said. “It was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I looked down into the crowd. I seen 40 chins, and then I climbed up those 40 chins and it was Ricardo Lamas. So I gave him the finger, as well.

“I saw him in the hotel with a big box of pizza, and I’m talking a 22-inch pizza, and on top of the 22-inch pizza was a big can of Pepsi or Coke – who are we signed by, Coke or Pepsi? If we’re not signed by them, cola. You know what I’m saying. He’s a big fat mess, making stupid videos. Get in the gym and perform impressively and climb up that ladder. You fought like a p-ssy when you fought Jose. So he’s a p-ssy.”

Lamas is next scheduled to meet fellow title challenger Chad Mendes (16-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 63, which takes place April 4 at Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. The UFC announced the fight during UFC Fight Night 59.
