A disciple of the late Carlson Gracie, Torres (Pictured) will enter the match on a two-fight winning streak. The 30-year-old Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt made his promotional debut at UFC 126 in February, as he outpointed Antonio Banuelos en route to a unanimous decision at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Torres, who now trains under Firas Zahabi at the Tristar Gym in Montreal, has secured 32 of his 39 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Pickett has posted 10 wins in his last 11 appearances, losing only to the world-ranked Scott Jorgensen in that span. The 32-year-old Englishman last competed at WEC 53 in December, when he defeated Ivan Menjivar by unanimous decision at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Ariz. Pickett has held titles under the Cage Rage and Ultimate Challenge MMA promotions. He has not been finished in nearly four years.
A rematch pairing lightweight champion Frankie Edgar with unbeaten challenger Gray Maynard will headline UFC 130. The two world-ranked fighters fought to a draw at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day. In addition, UFC 130 will also feature a showdown pitting one-time light heavyweight king Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 alum Matt Hamill and a heavyweight duel matching former champion Frank Mir with “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10 winner Roy Nelson.
