With a fight between Alex Caceres (9-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and Mitch Gagnon (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) scratched earlier today due to visa issues for Gagnon, UFC Fight Night 33 has a new fight that will open up the main card.
A women’s bantamweight bout between Julie Kedzie (16-12 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and promotional newcomer Bethe Correia (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) now will kick off the six-fight main card. The UFC made the change official on Monday.
UFC Fight Night 33 takes place at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland. The event, which includes a main card on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2 and MMAjunkie, takes place Saturday in Australia but airs live Friday in the U.S. due to the time difference.
UFC Fight Night 33 takes place Dec. 6 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1. The prelims air on FOX Sports 2 and stream on MMAjunkie.com.
Kedzie, a 10-year veteran and former HOOKnSHOOT grand prix winner, in July made her UFC debut after moving over from Strikeforce. The 32-year-old suffered a split-decision loss to Germaine de Randamie at UFC on FOX 8, her third straight setback. The Team Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter looks to get back on track against Correia, a new opponent for her after Aleksandra Albu was forced out less than three weeks ago with an injury.
“Pitbull” Correia trains with the highly regarded “Pitbull” Freire brothers, Bellator’s Patricio and Patricky, in Brazil. In June, she beat Erica Paes, who is known as the only woman to beat former Strikeforce champ and current Inivicta FC featherweight titleholder Cristiane “Cyborg” Justine. Of Correia’s six wins, five have come by decision.
The latest UFC Fight Night 33 card now includes:
MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 9 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 2, 7 p.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (MMAjunkie, 6:30 p.m. ET)
