Video: Watch Alex Nicholson propose to his girlfriend at UFC Fight Night 82 weigh-ins

LAS VEGAS – Every once in a while, we break new ground in this sport. On Friday, that was the case at the UFC Fight Night 82 weigh-ins.

With what we believe was a first, UFC newcomer Alex Nicholson (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) made a sweet first impression when he proposed to his girlfriend right before he took the scale. His girlfriend, Hannah, was on stage as his second, and she appeared to be surprised when Nicholson dropped to a knee and opened the ring box.

It looked like she said yes. We’re not sure if Nicholson was sweating what her answer would be – but he may have, considering he weighed in well below the light heavyweight limit at 201 pounds for his fight against Misha Cirkunov (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC).

Nicholson and Cirkunov fight on the main card Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Their fight airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Cirkunov is the biggest favorite on the card, coming in at 11-1 against Nicholson. So even though things went Nicholson’s way on Friday afternoon, getting a new fiancee, the oddsmakers aren’t counting on things going his way on Saturday.

But he’ll cross that bridge when he gets to it. For now, he’ll enjoy the moment. Check out his proposal in the video above.
