LAS VEGAS – How in the hell do you beat the UFC’s longtime flyweight champion and MMA’s pound-for-pound king, Demetrious Johnson?
Good luck trying to find an answer.
Johnson (24-2-1 MMA, 12-1-1 UFC), who’s No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings and pound-for-pound rankings, meets Tim Elliott (13-6-1 MMA, 2-4 UFC) in tonight’s headliner at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale.
Elliott won the “TUF 24” tournament to get the title shot, which airs on FS1 from The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. And like other recent title challengers, he’s a massive underdog.
Johnson, the first and only 125-pound champion in UFC history, has won 10 straight fights with eight consecutive title defenses, and his style, cardio and fight IQ have been an unsolvable puzzle for the rest of the division.
So we asked some TUF 24 Finale fighters – including the champ himself – how Elliott or any other challenger could possibly beat Johnson. Check out their answers, which didn’t have much in the way of solid advice, above.
