After some recent changes at the top of the card, the lineup is again set for next month’s UFC 187 event. Check out the new video preview of the Memorial Day weekend show.
UFC 187 takes place May 23 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The main card, which airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass, features two title fights, though the headliner recently underwent a change.
With Jon Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) stripped of his title following his arrest on a felony hit-and-run charge, his original opponent, Anthony Johnson (19-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC), now fights replacement and recent title challenger Daniel Cormier (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) for the vacant light-heavyweight belt.
The video preview takes a look at that main event, which features the No. 2 (Johnson) and No. 3 (Cormier) ranked fighters in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA light-heavyweight rankings. It also features the co-headliner, which features middleweight champion and No. 1-ranked 185-pounder Chris Weidman (12-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) vs. No. 2 Vitor Belfort (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC).
Finally, the preview includes the third billing on the card. Unranked lightweight John Makdessi (13-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) recently replaced injured Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC), who’s ranked No. 2 at lightweight. Makdessi now fights No. 4-ranked Donald Cerrone (27-6 MMA, 14-3 UFC), who could lose a potential title shot if he’s upset by the Canadian striker.
The full UFC 187 card includes:
