His nickname may be ‘Useless’ but long time flyweight contender Ulysses Gomez is anything but that, so the UFC has brought him in to fill a slot voided by another top 125lber.
Gomez will step in to replace Ian McCall on the upcoming UFC on Fox 4 card on Aug 4 as he faces John Moraga in an undercard bout.
UFC officials announced the new bout on Monday.
With an 9-2 record overall, Gomez has been a mainstay of the flyweight world over the last couple of years outside of a brief stop at bantamweight once upon a time.
A winner of his last two-fights in a row, Gomez is a multi-time veteran of Tachi Palace Fights as well as a lone performance in Bellator Fighting Championships, where he picked up a win as well.
Gomez is a former Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champion, a promotion that helped launch the careers of many top 125lb fighters including Ian McCall.
Now Gomez will step in to replace McCall as he faces Moraga at UFC on Fox 4 next Saturday night in Los Angeles.
