LAS VEGAS - At 25 years old, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is already among the greatest fighters to have competed for the world's largest MMA promotion. He's beaten five former UFC champions in the past 20 months, and recently signed a deal to become the global MMA face for Nike. But Jones believes those accomplishments are the beginning. Plenty of records are left to be broken, and there also may be another belt in his future: the UFC heavyweight title.

The best heavyweights are actually quite small, so after a duration of appropriate training and diet changes, Jones might actually be bigger. I believe firmly that a cruiserweight division should be made, somewhere around 230 pounds. The problem would be that it would dilute both divisions too much, and you'd often see the champion defending two different belts. Currently, one of the appeals of the heavyweight division is that you still get size mismatches, and of course, you also get the absolute most dangerous, powerful men fighting, and the best fighters are often smaller but more highly skilled and trained (like Couture, Velasquez, Dos Santos, or maybe Jones).
