UFC on Fuel TV 3 Bonuses: ‘Korean Zombie’ Earns Extra $80,000; Poirier, Lawlor Nab $40,000 Apiece

Chan Sung Jung pocketed an extra $80,000 for his efforts in the main event of UFC on Fuel TV 3 on Tuesday night, while Dustin Poirier and Tom Lawlor each netted $40,000 for their performances at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va.

Jung (Pictured, file photo) and Porier shared “Fight of the Night” honors, while Jung also scored “Submission of the Night” and Lawlor earned “Knockout of the Night.”

Jung put forth arguably the best performance of his career in the evening’s headliner, taking Poirier to the mat in round one and placing his foe is serious jeopardy in the second stanza with a myriad of submission attempts. Though Poirier appeared to find his rhythm in the third round, Jung wasted no time in finishing the bout in round four. “The Korean Zombie” landed a sharp uppercut that staggered Poirier, who proceeded to dive for a double-leg. Jung stuffed the attempt and locked up a tight brabo choke, relieving Poirier of his consciousness at the 67-second mark.

Fighting on his 30th birthday, Lawlor needed just 50 seconds to take out Jason MacDonald, snapping the Canadian’s head back with a crisp left straight in the bout’s opening moments. “Filthy” quickly followed up on his stunned foe, clubbing “The Athlete” with a blunt right hook behind the ear that caused MacDonald to fall limp and grant Lawlor his fourth Octagon victory.
