LOS ANGELES – Saturday night’s main event between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera is now official as the UFC on Fox 4: Shogun vs. Vera weigh-ins went down at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday.
Shogun and Vera were very workmanlike with their weigh-in performances, both stepping on the scale in quick fashion, a fast staredown and then off the stage before you knew it.
The co-main event maybe brought the biggest surprise as former UFC champion Lyoto Machida came in at a light 201 pounds for his showdown with Ryan Bader, well under the 205-pound limit for their fight. It immediately raised the question of whether or not a drop down to the middleweight division might be in Machida’s future.
The most impressive winner of the two light heavyweight main events has been promised a title shot by UFC president Dana White.
The rest of the competitors also made weight for the UFC on Fox 4 card taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night and airing live on Fox.
