UFC on Fox 11 Fight Card Adds Pat Healy vs. Jorge Masvidal and Brad Tavares vs. Yoel Romero

Pat Healy-Strikeforce-0911-10098-478x270With the UFC on Fox 11 fight card recently being made official for April 19 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., the fight card is starting to fill up.

UFC officials on Tuesday announced two new bouts for the card. Two former Strikeforce standouts, Pat Healy and Jorge Masvidal, will meet in a lightweight bout, while Brad Tavares and Yoel Romero will try to settle who the hottest rising star is in the middleweight division.

Healy (31-17, 1 NC) is sorely in need of a victory. After having his UFC debut victory over Jim Miller changed to a “no contest” due to a failed drug test, Healy then went on to drop back-to-back unanimous decisions to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Bobby Green.

Masvidal (25-8) won his first two UFC bouts after making the move with Healy from Strikeforce. He ran into a streaking Rustam Khabilov in November, dropping a unanimous decision to the Russian.

Tavares and Romero are an entirely different story, however, as both men have been rocketing up the ranks of the middleweight division.

Tavares (12-1) has only stumbled once in his career, losing a decision to Aaron Simpson at UFC 132 in the summer of 2011. He has since won five consecutive fights, most recently winning the judges’ nod over Lorenz Larkin at UFC Fight Night 35 in Atlanta.

Likewise, Romero (7-1) has one blemish on his record, a knockout loss to former Strikeforce champion Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante. He has been spot-on in his last three fights, however, winning two by knockout and recently stopping Derek Brunson via TKO, also at UFC Fight Night 35.

A heavyweight battle between No. 1 contender Fabricio Werdum and perhaps the hottest fighter in the division, Travis Browne, headlines the UFC on Fox 11 fight card.
