UFC on FX 5 Results: Jake Ellenberger Avenges First Pro Loss, Wins Decision Over Jay Hieron

Jake Ellenberger UFC 126It was a rematch over six years in the making, but Jake Ellenberger finally avenged the first loss of his pro career.

In 2006 with Ellenberger and opponent Jay Hieron both a part of the fledgling International Fight League, the two welterweights met with Hieron coming out on top by decision.

Fast forward to 2012 and Ellenberger got his chance to face Hieron a second time with this bout serving as co-main event for the UFC on FX 5 card in Minnesota.

While it wasn’t the prettiest or most exciting fight of the night, Ellenberger showed patience and poise as he moved in and out with takedowns and quick combinations to keep Hieron off balance.

Hieron was able to fire back in a few exchanges to keep Ellenberger mounting any kind of escalating offense, but he couldn’t quite land the kind of shots need to take over control of the fight.

The end result was Jake Ellenberger winning a unanimous decision across the board with 29-28 scores from all of the judges.

Ellenberger gets back on the winning path after a tough loss to Hieron’s teammate Martin Kampmann in his last bout as he continues his hunt for a UFC welterweight title shot.
