UFC on FOX 22 salaries: Urijah Faber ($320K), Sage Northcutt ($60K) earn top payouts


SACRAMENTO, Calif. – In his final fight before retirement, Urijah Faber earned the highest disclosed payout at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 22 event.

MMAjunkie today requested and received the list of disclosed paydays from the California State Athletic Commission.

UFC on FOX 22 took place at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif. The main card aired on FOX following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In a main-card bout, Faber (34-10 MMA, 10-6 UFC) closed out a remarkable career with a dominant unanimous-decision victory over bantamweight Brad Pickett (25-13 MMA, 5-8 UFC). Faber earned $320,000 (half of which was a win bonus) while Pickett got $40,000.

The other top earner was co-headliner Sage Northcutt (8-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), who suffered a submission loss to welterweight Mickey Gall (4-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC). Northcutt got $60,000, and Gall got $40,000.

The total disclosed payout for the event was $1,094,000.

Now, the usual disclaimer: The figures do not include deductions for items such as insurance, licenses and taxes. Additionally, the figures do not include money paid by sponsors, including the official UFC Athlete Outfitting sponsorship program pay. They also do not include any other “locker room” or special discretionary bonuses the UFC oftentimes pays. They also do not include pay-per-view cuts that some top-level fighters receive.

For example, as previously reported, UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 UFC on FOX 22 fight-night bonuses to Waterson and Craig (“Performance of the Night”) and Smith and Aldana (“Fight of the Night”).

In other words, the above figures are simply base salaries reported to the commission and do not reflect entire compensation packages for the event.
