In the wake of the violence of UFC on FOX 18, 12 fighters have been handed medical suspensions. Included in that list is light heavyweight main event knockout victim Ryan Bader, who is one of seven men to receive an indefinite suspension term.
The suspensions were handed down by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, which oversaw the event at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Bader (20-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) was crushed by the powerful punches of Anthony Johnson (21-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) in just 86 seconds. He’ll need a CT scan and clearance by a doctor before he can return to business as usual.
Also receiving an indefinite suspension is Sage Northcutt(7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC), the 19-year-old phenom who made his welterweight debut and suffered a submission defeat at the hands of Bryan Barberena (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC).
After a solid first round for Northcutt, he found himself on his back and could not escape the disadvantageous position. As Barberena locked in an arm-triangle choke, Northcutt was forced to tap out at the 3:06 mark of Round 2.
