UFC on FOX 13 results: Ian Entwistle leglock halts Anthony Birchak in 64 seconds

PHOENIX – Ian Entwistle spoiled the hometown UFC debut of Anthony Birchak and picked up his first octagon win in quick fashion.

Entwistle (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) grabbed ahold of an ankle lock and refused to let it go, forcing Birchak (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to tap at the 1:04 mark of the first round.

The bantamweight fight opened today’s UFC on FOX 13 event at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional bouts on FOX Sports 1 and FOX.

It was an impressive turnaround for Entwistle, who was stopped by first-round TKO in his UFC debut in June. Meanwhile, the bad luck continued for Birchak, whose home was robbed shortly after his scheduled UFC debut in August was scratched when opponent Joe Soto was promoted to headliner status at UFC 177.

Birchak’s early aggression cost him against Entwistle as he charged into a takedown and failed to defend his leg. He rolled frantically to escape the submission hold, but the fence prevented any further movement, and he winced as he tapped out.
