This time out, the reality show will test some of Brazil’s top welterweights, with coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum overseeing the 170-pounders. The cast will consist of 28 fighters, a number which will be cut in half during the first two episodes’ qualifying round.
Released today, the 28-fighter roster for “TUF Brazil 2” was narrowed down from approximately 300 candidates between ages 18 and 35 from various parts of Brazil, as well as Argentina and the U.S. Tryouts were held last October in Rio de Janeiro, where the prospective fighters were put through interviews, medicals and tests of both striking and grappling.
“I think the level is very high this season,” stated in a release. “I am confident that, beside the winner, we will also be sending several high-level fighters to the UFC in the future. Basically, we have the elite welterweights of Brazil in front of us.”
