NASHVILLE – If you expected a wild display of striking theatrics in Uriah Hall’s meeting with Oluwale Bamgbose, you were in for a surprise.
Hall (11-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC) took an early opportunity to get top position on the mat and made the most of it, thumping newcomer Bamgbose (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with a series of punches that forced a stoppage.
The middleweight bout closed the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 73 event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. It aired on FOX Sports 2 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1.

of a main card on FOX Sports 1.
The end of the fight came at the 2:32 mark of the first round after a left hand set off a flurry of punches from Hall that forced referee Herb Dean to step in. The win got Hall, a finalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 17,” back on the right track after a split-call loss to Rafael Natal in May at UFC 187.
Bamgbose, who stepped in on two weeks’ notice for an injured Joe Riggs, suffered the first loss of his professional career.
An early striking exchange saw Bamgbose swing wildly as Hall slowly advanced. The UFC veteran hardly got a chance to try out any combinations before the fight hit the mat. But when space emerged, Hall didn’t let his opponent up and instead looked for striking opportunities. Working Bamgbose against the fence, Hall found several right hands before the fight-ending combo.
