UFC Fight Night 71 staff picks: Mir-Duffee? Ferguson-Thomson? Holm-Reneau?

The UFC event schedule marches on, and on Wednesday, the organization heads to San Diego for UFC Fight Night 71. And according to our staff picks, the event features more than a few hotly contested matchups. Among the top three fights, our nine writers and radio hosts are in agreement for only one.

UFC Fight Night 71 takes place at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. It airs on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

In the headliner, despite being a 2-1 favorite, Todd Duffee (9-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) received just four of the nine picks over former heavyweight champion Frank Mir 17-9 MMA, 15-9 UFC).

Elsewhere on the card, though a 2-1 favorite over fellow women’s bantamweight Marion Reneau (6-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC), Holly Holm (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) narrowly edged her, 5-4, in the picks. Additionally, underdog Scott Jorgensen (15-10 MMA, 4-6 UFC) also got some love and picked up three of nine picks over bantamweight and small favorite Manny Gamburyan (14-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC). Lightweight Kevin Lee (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC), meanwhile, was the overwhelming 8-1 choice over James Moontasri (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC)

Only two picks were unanimous: lightweight Tony Ferguson (18-3 MMA, 8-1 UFC) over Josh Thomson (20-7 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in the co-headliner, and welterweight Alan Jouban (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) over Matt Dwyer (8-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), and
