HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – With one kick, “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2” veteran Thiago “Marreta” Santos spoiled former hockey enforcer Steve Bosse’s UFC debut.

The two had barely gotten started when Santos (11-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) caught Bosse (10-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with his hands down and finished the fight.

The middleweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 70 event at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2.

The official end came at the 0:29 mark of the first round when Santos let fly a head kick and caught Bosse’s head with his shin. Bosse, who made his debut after a short-notice fight against Fabio Maldonado fell through at UFC 186, dropped instantly to the mat and forced the referee to intervene.

“I worked really hard and trained hard,” Santos said. “I spent a lot of time away from my family. I’m very happy with this win. I saw that he dropped his guard and knew he was going to do it again, so I kicked him in the head, and it worked.”

After a quarterfinal loss on “TUF: Brazil 2,” Santos is now 3-2 in the UFC and has won his past two. Bosse sees an eight-fight winning streak come to a violent end.
