UFC Fight Night 42 results, photos: Rafael dos Anjos TKOs livid Jason High

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A hard left hand from Rafael dos Anjos (21-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) put Jason High (18-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) down, and a torrent of hammer fists put him away at the 3:36 mark of Round 2 to seal the TKO finish after a back-and-forth bout that was not without some bending of the rules.

The lightweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 42 event at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Things started off well enough for High, who used his wrestling to put down dos Anjos in the first, largely avoiding the Brazilian’s superior striking game by slowing the action down on the mat.

But after a particularly egregious eye poke from dos Anjos briefly halted the action, High rushed back into the fight and was soon tagged with a heavy left hand that took his legs out from under him.

No sooner had High collapsed to the mat than dos Anjos was on him, peppering him with a non-stop barrage of hammer fists – many of which appeared to strike the back of High’s head – while looking up at the ref as an invitation to a stoppage. With High unable to extricate himself, referee Kevin Mulhall stepped in to wave it off, which enraged High, who shoved the official upon rising to his feet.

For dos Anjos, the win gets him back on track after a recent loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov snapped a five-fight winning streak. High snaps a two-fight winning streak with the loss.
