UFC Champ Ronda Rousey, Gina Carano, Miesha Tate Make Maxim’s Latest ‘Hot 100’ List

Three of MMA’s best-known women were recently named to Maxim’s 2014 “Hot 100” list.

Former EliteXC and Strikeforce star Gina Carano came in at No. 39, while UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was named No. 42. Meanwhile, ex-Strikeforce champ Miesha Tate made her first appearance on the list, assuming the No. 58 spot. The list was started in 2000 and is voted on by the magazine’s readership in an online poll.

Last year, Rousey was voted in at No. 29, while the UFC’s Arianny Celeste made the 2012 list at No. 58. The 2014 version features the likes Rihanna (No. 11), Alyssa Milano (No. 34), Beyonce (No. 21) and Miley Cyrus (No. 25), who topped last year’s list.

Carano has been retired for nearly five years but has recently hinted at a potential comeback with the UFC. The 32-year-old film actor last competed in August 2009, suffering her first defeat at the hands of Cristiane Justino in a bid for Strikeforce’s inaugural women’s featherweight title.

Rousey, 27, has never been beaten in MMA competition, posting nine straight wins and capturing the Strikeforce and UFC bantamweight titles in the process. Rousey has also started a film career and will appear in both “The Expendables 3” and “Fast & Furious 7.” The judoka most recently stopped fellow Olympic medalist Sara McMann this past February and will defend her title next on July 5, when she meets Alexis Davis at UFC 175.

Also 27, Tate rebounded from a failed title bid against Rousey in her last outing, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Liz Carmouche at UFC on Fox 11. Like Rousey and Carano, Tate has been featured outside the Octagon, notably appearing in ESPN The Magazine’s 2014 “Body Issue.”
