UFC 194 Results: Conor McGregor Knocks Out Jose Aldo in Fastest KO in UFC Championship History

Conor McGregor is the undisputed UFC featherweight champion of the world.

McGregor stopped Jose Aldo in a UFC title-fight record of just 13 seconds, knocking out Jose Aldo in the first round of their UFC 194 main event on Saturday evening in Las Vegas.

McGregor hit Aldo with a counter-left hand, followed by strikes on the ground to finish the now-former 145-pound king in Round 1.

“Nobody can take that left-hand shot,” McGregor said during his post-fight interview. “He’s powerful and he’s fast. But precision beats power and timing beats speed.”

The two best featherweights in the world refused to touch gloves, choosing instead to go at it in the most anticipated fight of 2015. And just seconds later, it was all over when Aldo stepped in with a flurry and got caught with a counter-left punch.

After dropping Aldo to the ground, McGregor landed two more hammerfists as Aldo laid stretched out on the Octagon’s canvas. Moments later, the referee stepped in to put a stop to the contest and crown a new UFC featherweight champion.

After the bout and in uncharacteristic fashion, the typically brash McGregor gave praise to his fallen opponent, calling Aldo “phenomenal” in defeat.

“He’s a phenomenal champion,” McGregor exclaimed. “We deserved to go a little bit longer.”

With the win on Saturday, McGregor became the undisputed 145-pound UFC champion and retains his undefeated record in the organization.
