October’s UFC 192 event in Houston has two new additions, including one at flyweight and one at welterweight.
Former 125-pound title challenger Chris Cariaso (17-7 MMA, 7-5 UFC) meets Sergio Pettis (12-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), and Alan Jouban(12-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) takes on fellow 170-pounder Albert Tumenov (15-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC).
UFC officials confirmed the bout with the Houston Chronicle.
UFC 192 takes place Oct. 3 at Toyota Center in Houston. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
The bout order hasn’t been finalized.
Cariaso, an honorable mention in the NOS Energy Drink MMA flyweight rankings, is 0-2 since a three-fight winning streak that earned him a shot at champ Demetrious Johnson. The 34-year-old WEC/Strikeforce/EliteXC vet suffered a submission loss to Johnson and followed it up with a decision defeat to Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo in March.
He now looks to get back in the win column when he meets Pettis, who went 3-1 with two “Fight of the Night” bonuses during his four UFC fights, all of which came at bantamweight. The 21-year-old Roufusport fighter then returned to flyweight but suffered a TKO loss to Ryan Benoit in March.
Jouban, meanwhile, is coming off wins over Richard Walsh and Matt Dwyer, and he now looks for his third straight win and his sixth victory in seven fights. The 32-year-old former RFA title challenger recently picked up his second “Fight of the Night” bonus with the win over Dwyer.
He meets Tumenov, who suffered a split-decision loss to Ildemar Alcantara in his UFC debut but has since rebounded with three victories, including two via knockout. After a UFC 188 bout fell apart, the 23-year-old Russian now fights for the first time since January.
