UFC 187 staff picks: How many are picking upsets in the two title fights?

?Saturday’s UFC 187 card has as many heavy favorites as any card in 2015, but did our staff members’ picks fall into line with the oddsmakers?

Check out all the staff picks for UFC 187’s pay-per-view main card, which takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Two title fights top the card, each with prohibitive favorites from our staffers. In the main event, Daniel Cormier (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Anthony Johnson (19-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) vie for the now-vacant light heavyweight title. Cormier is a mild favorite, but seven of our nine editors, writers and radio show hosts believe he’ll accomplish what he couldn’t against now-ex champ Jon Jones in January: win gold.

In the co-feature, middleweight champion Chris Weidman (12-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) puts his belt on the line against Vitor Belfort (24-10 MMA, 13-6 UFC) and is a heavy favorite. Not a single picker is going with the challenger, confirming the heavy Vegas odds against him.

Elsewhere on the card, though, we have three 9-0 sweeps. Donald Cerrone (27-6 MMA, 14-3 UFC) is a unanimous pick to beat short-notice opponent and heavy underdog John Makdessi (13-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC); all nine believe Travis Browne (17-2-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) will top former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski (23-10 MMA, 12-4 UFC); and Joseph Benavidez (21-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) gets the unanimous nod to top John Moraga (16-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in a battle of former flyweight title challengers.
