LAS VEGAS – Renan Barao will get the rematch he was hoping for.
The former bantamweight champion will get a shot at revenge against new titleholder T.J. Dillashaw, who upset him for the belt in May. The two will headline UFC 177 on Aug. 30 in Dillashaw’s home base of Sacramento, Calif.
UFC President Dana White announced the news during a special live edition of “UFC Tonight” at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
UFC 177 originally was thought to be set for Las Vegas on the same date with a headliner between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson, also a title rematch. But that bout will headline UFC 178 on Sept. 26, now in Las Vegas and not in Toronto as originally thought.
