Round 2: Trevino lands an outside leg kick.  Forte counters with a right hand.  Trevino lands an outside leg kick.  Forte catches a kick to the body and takes Trevino down.  Trevino quickly gets back to his feet and they separate.  Trevino steps in with a right hand.   He switches stances and lands a leg kick.  Trevino lands a right hand.  Forte delivers a kick to the body.  Trevino continues to throw leg kicks.  He lands a side kick to the body. Round 3: Trevino takes the center of the cage.  He lands a right hand.  He’s pressuring Forte.  He lands a combination.  Forte slips and Trevino lets him up.  Trevino drops down and takes Forte down.  Forte gets up.  Trevino lands a spinning back elbow on the break.  Forte changes levels and takes Trevino down.  Trevino quickly gets back to the standing position.  He works to takes Forte down.  He delivers a series of knees to the legs of Forte.  He lands an elbow followed by a combination.  Forte initiates the clinch.  They exchange knees to the body and separate.  Trevino lands a right hand followed by another.  Forte presses forward and lands a right hand.  He ducks under and takes Trevino down.  Trevino rolls to stand and Forte takes his back.  Trevino stands and turns into Forte.  He lands a knee to the body inside the clinch.  Forte lands a knee to the body and separates.  Forte steps in with a right hand.  Trevino lands a right hand at the bell.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Trevino.

The judges scored the fight for Trevino by unanimous decision.  All three scorecards read 29-28.

Francisco Trevino:

“I’m still undefeated so I’m very happy. I knew I had to control that third round and push the pace because he couldn’t keep up with my striking.  My grandma passed away during my camp about a month ago. I didn’t want to say anything because I wanted to stay focused. I’d like to dedicate this fight to her because she was always there for me and she helped raise me. It was a shame I couldn’t be at her funeral because I was training for this fight. My family really understood how important this night was for me. I’m a low key guy and I try to remain humble in this sport. I’m not the best or the greatest but I’ve got some talent and I’m going to keep pushing. I’m a normal guy who does his job.” 

Renee Forte:

“It was very disappointing. It started yesterday at the weigh in. I didn’t make weight and even though I think the scale was off the whole process of having to weigh again affected me tonight. I thought that I won the first two rounds. I don’t agree with the decision at all.”
