LAS VEGAS – The UFC heavyweight title is on the line as champion Junior Dos Santos meets top contender Frank Mir and on Friday they met first on the scales.
Both champion and challenger made weight without issue, as did the other eight heavyweights on the main card.
Frank Mir, who looks to become a three-time UFC heavyweight champion, believes this will be a fight that won’t make it out of the first round.
“Dos Santos wants to be the champ, and I’m going in there to take that away from him,” said challenger Frank Mir. “Both of us are first round fighters and finish guys quick. I think it’s going to be a fast, explosive fight.”
As for the champion Junior Dos Santos, he’s like minded and thinks this could be a short night’s work as well. If Mir isn’t prepared, it will be even shorter.
“I’m ready for this fight, if he’s not ready, it’s going to be a fast fight,” said heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos. “It’s going to be a knockout, 2nd round.”
All of the other fighters on the UFC 146 fight card made weight as well.
