It’s been a long time since Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz last set foot in the Octagon across from one another. It’s been four years, as a matter of fact.
It’s also been more than a year since Evans last set foot in the Octagon, period. So when Phil Davis had to withdraw from the fight and Lyoto Machida’s demands were too steep, Evans was relieved when Ortiz eventually stepped up to the plate to fight him at UFC 133 on Saturday night in Philadelphia.
“I was just happy he took the fight to be honest. I’ve been out of the cage for so long, I would have fought anybody,” said Evans on Thursday, but he also advised, “A lot changes in four years.”
He was alluding to the draw that he and Ortiz had in their first fight, saying that everyone should expect a much different scenario this time around.
