UFC 130 Fight Night Bonuses Net $70,000; Travis Browne Easy KO Winner

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Las Vegas on Saturday night for UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill. The fight card suffered the loss of its original main event a couple weeks ago when Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard both had to withdraw with injuries, but there were several fighters on the card that tried to step up and fill the gap, earning $70,000 postfight award bonuses.

Travis Browne left no doubts, scoring the “Knockout of the Night” with a perfectly timed hand. The Hawaiian was having difficulty from the onset with the six-foot-11-inch tall Stefan Struve. Late into the opening round, however, as Struve appeared to be launching a knee, Browne threw a counter right hand that sent “Skyscraper” to the mat, out cold.

American Top Team’s Gleison Tibau, fighting Rafaello Oliveira on the Facebook prelims, scored the “Submission of the Night.” He tried throwing down with Oliveira, rocking him several times, but he couldn’t lock down the knockout bonus.

Instead, after softening Oliveira up with ground and pound midway through the second round, he finished with a rear naked choke. It was the only submission on Saturday night, making Tibau the easy choice for the bonus.

The “Fight of the Night” was a good start for the pay-per-view broadcast. The fight didn’t quite make it two full rounds, but Brian Stann and former Sengoku champion Jorge Santiago didn’t hold back, going toe-to-toe to kick off the main card.

Stann being a former Marine, and this being Memorial Day weekend, he wouldn’t be denied. Just before the second round came to a close, Stann floored Santiago to get the win, but they both went home with an extra $70,000 in pocket.
