Round 1: The crowd is pumped for this one. Guida immediately comes out circling with a massive amount of footwork and head movment. If Gomi wants to connect, he is going to have to chase Clay. The crowd erupts, “Let’s go Guida!” Gomi is staying composed trying to pick his shots. All I can see is flailing hair everywhere. Guida is in and out, and side to side with effectiveness. Guida snaps a huge high kick that stuns Gomi! Guida shoots and Gomi stuffs it, they are back to their feet. The crowd once again chants Guida’s name. Guida shoots again and Gomi sprawls. The fighters now clinch against the cage briefly but separate. Gomi is trying to catch Guida with a jab to stop hi movement but Clay is everywhere, I’ve never seen him move around this much. A straight left by Gomi connects. Guida again shoots but Gomi is having none of it. Another head kick by Guida connects and he immediately shoots for the takedown and is successful as he slams the former Pride Champion to the canvas. The round ends, 10-9 Guida.
Round 2:It looks as if Gomi is very confused, he just can’t catch Guida. Guida shoots once again, and again Gomi stuffs the takedown. Gomi is doing an outstanding job with his takedown defense, it has been very impressive. Gomi is opening up a bit more this round and is taking a few more chances but to no avail–he simply can’t catch the Illinois native. Unfortunately Guida isn’t managing much of an offense, sure he is not getting hit, but he is doing much hitting this round either. A left hook by Guida catches Gomi and the Japnanese superstar retreats. Guida feigns a takedown and Gomi throws a monsterous knee that lands directly on Guida’s forehead. In true Guida fashion, he walks right through it, directly into a power double leg takedown that he gets with authority, as he slams Gomi to the floor of the Octagon. As Gomi is on the bottom he tries to pull a switch, but ends up exposing his neck. Guida rolls with Gomi and sinks in a fight ending guillotine as Gomi taps.
