A fight between top-10 welterweights Tyron Woodley and Rory MacDonald is being targeted for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s summer visit to Canada.

According to “UFC Tonight,” the Woodley-MacDonald matchup is “in the works” for UFC 174, which takes place June 14 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C. Steven Marrocco of MMAJunkie.com first mentioned the planned matchup on Twitter. The promotion has not yet announced a main event for the pay-per-view card.

Woodley, 31, scored a second-round stoppage at last month’s UFC 171 by kicking out the leg of former title challenger Carlos Condit. After the win, Woodley felt he deserved a title shot, but with new champ Johny Hendricks sidelined due to arm surgery, the former University of Missouri wrestler will look to firm up his No. 1 contender status by earning a third straight victory. Last year, Woodley told the Sherdog Radio Network’s “Beatdown” show that he was interested in a fight with MacDonald.

MacDonald last appeared at UFC 170 in February, where he battled back from a tough opening round to earn a unanimous decision against Demian Maia. The 24-year-old Canadian has won six of his last seven stretching back to 2011, including wins over the likes of B.J. Penn, Jake Ellenberger and Nate Diaz.
