As a busy summer comes to a close, UFC officials are starting to firm up the rosters for its fall and winter events. The latest addition is a fight between Tom DeBlass and Riki Fukuda at the UFC on Fuel TV 6 event slated for November in China, according to MMAWeekly.com sources.
The fight marks a move from light heavyweight down to middleweight for DeBlass (7-1), who lost the first fight of his professional career in his UFC debut. Cyrille Diabaté won a majority decision over DeBlass earlier this year in Sweden.
DeBlass has been a champion for the Ring of Combat promotion at both light heavyweight and heavyweight, but will try and increase his size advantage in moving down to the 185-pound division.
Fukuda (18-6) has gone just 1-2 curing his UFC tenure and, coming off of a loss to Constantinos Philippou at UFC 148, needs a victory.
The two will be part of the supporting cast for the UFC on Fuel TV 6 main event pitting Cung Le against Rich Franklin in a middleweight bout on Nov. 10 at Cotai Arena in Macau.
The DeBlass vs. Fukuda bout was first reported by theScore.
UFC on Fuel TV 6 is the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first foray into China, promising to open the door to a greater presence from the promotion in the Asian market. The promotion has already returned to Japan, and plans also call for the UFC to soon make its way into India, the Philippines, and other areas of Asia.
