Three-year ban for steroids? Too long or too short? UFC fighters weigh in

The Nevada State Athletic Commission recently made the MMA world take notice when it voted for three-year bans for fighters who fail drug tests due to steroids for the first time. Is this punishment too harsh? Not harsh enough?

We asked a bunch of fighters prior to this past weekend’s UFC 187 event in Las Vegas to weigh in.

While some fighters mentioned some legitimate concerns like tainted supplements, most competitors were fully in support of the more-stringent penalties, which also include substantial fines and potential lifetime bans for multiple offenses.

Perhaps UFC flyweight John Dodson put it best.

“It’s perfect,” he said of the three-year bans. “Because those as-holes on all those drugs need to cut that f-cking sh-t out.”
