Just hours after Thiago Silva released a statement admitting his guilt in the drug testing situation surrounding UFC 125, he will have his final punishment handed down by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on April 7.

Originally, the commission was set to hold a hearing on that date to discuss a temporary suspension, and allow Silva the time to appeal or ask for a formal hearing on the matter.

According to Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer, Silva has now waived that right and will have his punishment handed down at the meeting on April 7.

“Mr. Silva and his manager have requested “that the Commission hear this issue and render its decision on the April 7 docket,” Kizer told MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday.

The meeting will now decide what action the commission will take against Silva and his actions to falsify a drug test administered at UFC 125 on Jan 1.

The other recorded case similar to this was regarding Kevin Randleman following his fight against Maurcio “Shogun” Rua in Pride in 2007. Randleman also submitted a sample lacking human urine and was subsequently stripped of his fight license.

He was allowed to re-apply after one year.

The other issue that Silva may be dealing with is the fight against Brandon Vera being overturned from a win to a no-contest. The commission may decide to switch the decision as well based on the drug test results.

The hearing takes place in Nevada on April 7 and Silva will find out the verdict at that time.
